A small press on BC’s Sunshine Coast, interested in books with a strong sense of place. Submissions are not open yet.
Secret Cove Press takes its name from a small inlet on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, which is where it is based.
It is a small publishing operation, and intends to stay that way. The appeal of a small press is that it can take on a book because the book deserves it rather than because a forecast supports it, work closely with one author at a time, and keep a title in print long after a larger house would have let it go.
The interest is in work with a strong sense of place, in writers who have been at it for years without a London or New York address, and in books that fall between the categories the trade prefers.
Everything about the operation is being set up now: what it will publish, how submissions will be handled, and what an author can expect from it. None of that will be announced before it is settled, because a press that promises more than it can deliver does harm to the writers who believe it.
