Advice for independent sellers on online marketplaces: listings, real fees, pricing, ranking, suspensions, and when to sell somewhere else.
Selling on someone else's marketplace is a trade with its own rules, and most of them are learned expensively.
Marketplace Tips is being built to shorten that. It covers the platforms where independent sellers actually work, and the parts of the job that decide whether a listing earns anything: how a title and photograph change what gets seen, what the fees really come to once shipping and returns are counted, how to price without racing to the bottom, how ranking works and how much of what is said about it is guesswork, and what to do when an account is suspended by an automated system with no obvious appeal.
It also covers the harder question, which is whether a given marketplace is worth being on at all, and at what point a seller is better off building somewhere they control.
The material will be specific and current, and it will say when something has changed, because on these platforms it changes often.
