Most organisations do not have a data problem. They have several spreadsheets, an old database, a system somebody set up and left, and no agreement about which of them is right.
Corporate Data Company is being built to deal with exactly that. The work is unglamorous and it is where the value is: finding out what a business already holds, reconciling the copies, deciding what is authoritative, cleaning what is worth keeping, and putting it somewhere it can be maintained by ordinary staff rather than by whoever wrote it.
We are interested in a company's own records: its customers, its stock, its history, its reporting. Not in acquiring information about people from elsewhere. The aim is that a business can answer a straightforward question about itself in minutes and trust the answer.
The site will cover practical method, common failures, and how to tell whether a data project is going to be worth what it costs.
